Review: Novotel Twin Waters Resort, Sunshine Coast

May 3, by Vikram Goyal. Leave a Comment

Kids overlooking the balcony

I was supposed to be writing this on the Tuesday. Instead, I am writing this on a Thursday. And I can only blame it on myself. I wanted to check out of the hotel on the Tuesday, but I just couldn’t get myself to do it. The peaceful surrounds, the gentle soothing water, the daily buffet (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Really, do you think I can be blamed for extending my stay for one more day?

Where am I?

Here:

Novotel Twin Waters Lagoon

and here:

Novotel Putt-Putt Golf

And Somewhere Here:

Lobby Activity Centre

And I remember using this a lot (The bed and the spa I mean):

The bedroom at Novotel

Funnily enough, I remember being here a lot as well!

Nouveau Restaurant

So, if the title of this post doesn’t tell you, I am at the Novotel Twin Waters Resort on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. We have just spent a full two days at this beautiful picturesque resort and we are aching to go back at the first opportunity.

The resort has everything going for it. Set aside on Ocean Drive in the suburb of Twin Waters (Mudjimba), away million miles from maddening crowds and traffic it sits on a lagoon with its own private beach as well as having access to Mudjimba Beach and the Maroochy River.  Hence the name Twin Waters! If you have a family with little ones, you could not ask for anywhere more perfect.

The kids have tons of things to occupy them. Would you believe it, there is actually a dedicated circus experience situated on the resort itself called Cirque Espace! Where else can you take your kids where they can learn to trapeze or juggle or jump on a giant trampoline? Mind you, this is not restricted to kids. Adults and corporate guests can indulge in their inner child as well. (Check opening timings and season with the resort before you book).

Then there is the fully supervised and licensed kids club activity area which even takes 2 year olds! Hooray! (Again, check opening timings and seasonality).

There is also the games room, where you can indulge for unlimited play for $10.00.

Oh, did I mention the lifeguard monitored private beach? Did you see the Catamarans sailing in the lagoon in the picture above? What about Segway rides through the lush gardens and fields (charged)?

One thing that really surprised us was the very well stocked deli, selling everything from milk, newspapers and bread, to many more convenience supplies. This is a wonderful addition to any resort. You can buy fresh fruits, sandwiches and heaps of other stuff that you are likely to find in your local shop. You don’t need to step outside the resort.

Dining options cater to all budgets. The buffet (again, the buffet!), is offered at Nouveau Restaurant and is moderately priced for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dinner is themed differently each night. I mentioned the deli earlier, where you can buy inexpensive sandwiches and snacks, as well as fresh fruit. There is also a pretty unique take on the room service, with a grab it and go takeaway style shop located near the lobby.

There are plenty of meeting and function rooms. On the two nights we were there, we saw at least 3 private functions taking place. The resort is popular with the corporate and as a wedding venue!

Finally, the resort rooms are perfect for the family. Even the smallest rooms cater for 2 adults and 2 kids (using existing bedding – just request a twin room instead of a queen). The Novotel brand offers the perfect family- friendly environment, treating children as their special little guests. Up to two children (aged 0 to 15 years) stay free of charge when sharing a room with their parents or grandparents and when dining with an adult enjoy complimentary buffet breakfast any day of the week.

Families can also book a second room for their children at just half the price of their own room, and with a play area for children, free Nickelodeon cartoon network and 20 minutes complimentary internet usage per room, the holiday is sure to be a hit with the kids.

All the details!

Where? Novotel Twin Waters Resort, Ocean Drive, Mudjimba, Sunshine Coast, Queensland.

Cost? Varies heavily. Now (off season in winter) is the time to stay as there are some great specials to be had.

Tip: Book directly with the reservations team (1800 072 277) as they might be able to give you a better rate than the website.
