Review: Annie The Musical in Brisbane

April 12, by Vikram Goyal. 3 Comments

My daughter and I had the pleasure of attending the official opening night of Annie in Brisbane last night.

Annie was one of those movies that I watched over and over and being able to share those memories with my daughter by attending the QPAC show was amazing.

We spent the last few weeks learning the songs so that my 4 year old could “relate” to them during the show.  They sung all our favourites such as Tomorrow, Hard Knock Life and Easy Street. Our (I mean me) one disappointment was the  exclusion of Dumb Dog but Dusty who played Sandy (the dog) won me over anyway.

Annie was played beautifully by Anita Munro CHLOE THIEL and I quote my 4 year old who said “Annie was my favorite bit“.  All the kids were  amazing and all I could think is how on earth do they remember all the dance routines which were full of movement. Molly played by Kennedy Poley was especially cute and sung beautifully.

Anthony Warlow (Oliver Warbucks), Nancy Hayes (Miss Hannigan) and Chloe Dallimore (Lilly St Regis) were all wonderful too. In fact we don’t have anything negative to say about any of the actors.

If you are taking young children I think paying for a  matinee show would be most suited as it doesn’t finish until 10pm and whilst your child might stay awake (mine did) the morning after fatigue can be very trying. But don’t let that stop you from going as it’s worth losing sleep over.

We are going to be singing Tomorrow, Tomorrow for days to come.

Tickets are $75.90 – $127.90. Visit QPAC for more information.

Anita did NOT play Annie last night. Chloe did. They share the role with Xanthe Dunning.

Thanks Rebecca. Yes, it was CHLOE THIEL that played the role of ANNIE that night. She was honored to do so as she shares the role with Xanthe and Anita.
I’m so proud of my daughter and indeed of all the children involved in this production. 🙂
